Just imagine – Russia's freezing outside Europe in slush and winds, and here in early February, a real floral Paradise, because the mass blooming of numerous groves of Mimosa. The city and its surroundings are simply buried in the fluffy gold of these extraordinary trees and flowers which we used to see the little bunches. And here there is real field of mimosa!

The Mimosa Festival has its own well-established program – it starts with large-volume floral exhibition, which is held in the Old Town on the main municipal square. Second day of the Festival starts with the ceremonial passing of the brass band, shining polished copper and the sparkling colorful costumes of the musicians. Together with the musicians marching in the beautiful majorettes, each of which may participate in the beauty contest of any scale. Just for the sake of spectacle, you should come in February to Montenegro! Moreover, a carnival lasts until the morning and the city is immersed in unbridled joy.

The festival has emerged out of nowhere, it is "secular" epitome of the ancient holiday of farewell to winter and meeting of spring. In the surrounding town small towns (Kumbor, Baošići, Đenovići) it is felt very strongly. Is a celebration of farewell to winter – what a winter is here, the laughing one! - and the new blossoming of nature. Fishermen and winegrowers offer to tourists and residents grilled fish and wine for free, other foods and beverages, everywhere play amateur and professional orchestras, songs and dances are audible and visible everywhere. In the final farewell to winter with different intensity it goes in a month - on the main square of Herceg Novi solemnly burned a straw doll. It represents all the troubles of the past year, which now are gone forever. That is, the pagan roots of the holiday are obvious and we, Russians, are quite clear, because we have a Festival.
